Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Philadelphia Phillies Pick & Prediction APRIL 6th 2025

Preview and Prediction
The Philadelphia Phillies will conclude a six-game homestand on Sunday afternoon by aiming to secure the decisive victory in their three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The first two matchups of the series have been characterized by impressive pitching. The two teams have combined to allow a mere nine runs and 21 hits, while also recording 29 strikeouts.
Right-hander Tyler Glasnow (1-0, 0.00 ERA) will take the mound for the Dodgers on Sunday, while left-hander Cristopher Sanchez (0-0, 1.69) will start for the Phillies.
According to Philadelphia shortstop Trea Turner, it is too early to label this series as a potential preview of the playoffs.
"It feels like two talented teams competing against each other, and the energy from our fans has been fantastic," Turner shared with reporters. "The games have been close and well-played, in my opinion."
Sanchez, who was an All-Star last season, did not receive a decision in his first start of the year. In the team's home opener against the Colorado Rockies on Monday, he pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed just one run on four hits. He also walked two and struck out seven. Although he gave up a home run to Hunter Goodman in the sixth inning, the Phillies were able to rally for a 6-1 victory.
In his career, Sanchez has a record of 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA in two starts against the Dodgers.
Despite Saturday's loss, the Phillies' rotation has been solid in the first eight games of the season. The starters have only given up 13 runs in 47 2/3 innings, resulting in a 2.45 ERA. However, all of those runs have come from home runs.
In Saturday's 3-1 defeat, starting pitcher Aaron Nola surrendered a two-run homer to Enrique Hernandez and a solo shot to Michael Conforto. Both of these home runs were hit on the first pitch of their respective at-bats.
Conforto, who is 32 years old, has had success at Philadelphia's Citizens Bank Park. In 61 games there, the outfielder has hit 16 home runs and has a slugging percentage of .558. This is the most home runs he has hit at any park where he has only played as a visitor.
So far this season, Conforto is batting .308 with two home runs and five RBIs in eight games.
"He's in a perfect environment to thrive. ... His work is good, and I like what he's doing at the plate," said Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts.
Glasnow, who is 31 years old, also made his season debut last Monday. He pitched five shutout innings and recorded eight strikeouts in a win against the Atlanta Braves. Although he only allowed two hits, he did walk three batters.
In four career appearances (two starts) against the Phillies, Glasnow has a record of 1-0 with a 5.52 ERA.
After getting 34 hits and sweeping the Rockies at home, the Phillies have struggled to make solid contact against the Dodgers. In the first two games of the series, Alec Bohm and Max Kepler are a combined 0-for-15 with one walk, one run, and one RBI.
The top of the Phillies' batting order, consisting of Kyle Schwarber, Turner, and Bryce Harper, have given their teammates opportunities to score in the last two games. However, they have only managed to score once out of the 10 times they have reached base against the Dodgers.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Philadelphia Phillies Recap APR 6TH 2025
Nick Castellanos hit a grand slam and Edmundo Sosa continued his productive start to the season as the Philadelphia Phillies nipped the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers 8-7 on Sunday in the rubber game of a three-game series.
Sosa went 2-for-4 and has multiple hits in all five of his starts this season, although he used his hustle to plate the go-ahead run in this one. Bryce Harper added two hits and scored twice for the Phillies, who handed Los Angeles two defeats this weekend after the Dodgers arrived in Philadelphia with an 8-0 record.
Teoscar Hernandez smacked two home runs and drove in five runs for Los Angeles, while Mookie Betts and Will Smith each added two hits and an RBI. Shohei Ohtani went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts.
Hernandez opened the scoring with a two-run homer off Cristopher Sanchez in the first inning, but the Phillies got that back - and more - in the third.
Tyler Glasnow walked the first three hitters of the frame before issuing an RBI single to Harper. Glasnow then issued a run-scoring wild pitch and another walk before Castellanos launched his eighth career grand slam.
Hernandez responded with a solo homer in the fourth and an RBI double in the fifth, making it 6-4. Los Angeles then scored three times in the seventh to move ahead by a run.
Jordan Romano allowed three straight baserunners to open the inning, including an RBI double by Betts. Orion Kerkering (1-0) came on to issue Hernandez's game-tying sacrifice fly before Smith delivered a double, plating Betts.
The Phillies answered promptly against Blake Treinen (0-1) in the bottom half, beginning with Harper's leadoff double. He came around to score on a base hit by Bryson Stott and then Philadelphia went ahead when Sosa beat out a potential double-play ball by a split-second.
Luis Garcia worked out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the eighth, giving the Dodgers a chance in the ninth. But Jose Alvarado retired Ohtani, Betts and Tommy Edman in order to pick up his second save.
Glasnow was charged with five runs, two hits and five walks in two-plus innings. Sanchez struck out nine over 5 2/3 innings, yielding four runs, six hits and one walk.
