Preview and Prediction

The Los Angeles Dodgers, who are currently visiting, will attempt to capitalize on their recent success as they strive to even the score in their four-game series against the Atlanta Braves on Monday.

Despite losing the first two games of the series against Atlanta, the Dodgers managed to pull off an impressive victory on Sunday, scoring seven runs in the ninth inning, including three consecutive home runs, to defeat the Braves 9-2. This win came at a crucial time for the Dodgers, who had previously struggled with a 1-4 record in their last five games.

With a record of 88-61, the Dodgers are currently two games behind the Philadelphia Phillies for the best record in the National League. They also hold a comfortable 3 1/2-game lead over the San Diego Padres in the NL West.

Unfortunately for the Braves, who currently hold a record of 81-68, they missed out on an opportunity to gain ground in the standings as the New York Mets lost and the Braves remained tied with them for the final NL wild-card playoff spot.

According to Braves manager Brian Snitker, this series between two strong teams has been a close and competitive one, with the exception of one inning. He expressed confidence in the Braves' starting pitcher for Monday's game and acknowledged that the Dodgers also have a strong pitcher on the mound.

The starting pitchers for the final game of the series will be Atlanta's left-handed pitcher Max Fried (9-9, 3.46 ERA) and Los Angeles' right-handed pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto (6-2, 2.77 ERA).

In his last game, Fried suffered a loss against the Washington Nationals, allowing four runs on 11 hits and striking out six over six innings. This was the first time in 29 games that an Atlanta starter had given up more than three runs.

According to Snitker, Fried did a good job of keeping the game under control, but the Braves struggled to produce runs. He acknowledged that it's not always possible to win with a score of 3-1 and that consistent scoring is necessary for success.

Fried has faced the Dodgers nine times in his career, with a record of 3-3 and an ERA of 3.02. In his last game against them on May 5, he took the loss after allowing four runs in seven innings.

Yamamoto, on the other hand, is making his second start since returning from a shoulder injury that he sustained in June. In his first game back, he threw four innings, allowing one unearned run on three hits and striking out eight with no walks. He only threw 59 pitches.

According to Yamamoto, his comeback game was better than he expected, and he felt that his performance was one of the best he's had this year. Dodgers catcher Austin Barnes also praised his performance, saying that he looked better than ever and that it was a big boost for the team.

Yamamoto has never faced the Braves before, so it will be a new challenge for him.

In their impressive comeback win on Sunday, the Dodgers scored five of their seven runs against Atlanta's closer Raisel Iglesias, who had not allowed an earned run in his previous 30 appearances. Snitker acknowledged that it was a tough game and that Iglesias had a great run, but ultimately the Dodgers were able to hit a very good pitcher.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Atlanta Braves Recap JUN 6TH 2021

Max Fried allowed one run over six innings to help the Atlanta Braves to a 4-2 win against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers in the rubber match of their three-game series on Sunday afternoon.

Fried (3-3) gave up six hits, struck out four and did not walk a batter.

Ehire Adrianza had two hits, Ender Inciarte drove in two runs and Abraham Almonte and Ozzie Albies each contributed RBI doubles for the Braves.

Dodgers starter Trevor Bauer (6-4) allowed three runs and six hits in six innings. He struck out seven and walked four.

Albert Pujols had two hits, including a solo homer, and drove in both runs for Los Angeles.

Dansby Swanson singled to lead off the second. Almonte then came up and hit a one-hop double off the wall in center to score Swanson for a 1-0 lead.

The Braves moved ahead 2-0 in the third when Freddie Freeman walked with two outs and scored on a double by Albies, his 19th double of the season.

Fried retired the first 10 batters in order before Justin Turner doubled down the left-field line with one out in the fourth. Fried struck out Chris Taylor, but Pujols dropped a two-out single into shallow right to score Turner and make it 2-1.

The Braves put their first two runners on base in the sixth before Inciarte grounded a single up the middle with one out to make it 3-1.

Inciarte added a sacrifice fly in the eighth to make it 4-1.

A.J. Minter relieved Fried with two on and no outs in the seventh and retired three straight batters. Chris Martin pitched a scoreless eighth for the Braves, and Will Smith worked the ninth, giving up a solo homer to Pujols before completing his 11th save.

Max Muncy, who leads the Dodgers with 13 home runs, did not start for the second straight game because of a sprained right ankle that occurred in Friday's game. He pinch-hit for Bauer in the seventh with runners on first and second and two out and flew out to right.
