Lewis Hamilton unharmed following accident during Ferrari testing
Lewis Hamilton was unharmed on Wednesday when he had a collision with his Ferrari during a team trial in Barcelona, Spain.
A seven-time Formula 1 champion, Hamilton is getting ready for his inaugural season with the Ferrari team after spending 12 years with Mercedes.
The accident took place on the second day of testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. He was behind the wheel of a 2023 model car, and the Ferrari team had to repair the vehicle so that Charles Leclerc could continue with his tests.
The crash was not a cause for concern for Ferrari officials, as it is not uncommon for drivers to have incidents while adjusting to new equipment.
Hamilton is restricted to driving a specific car with limited mileage, according to F1 regulations.
The 40-year-old is set to make his debut with the team at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on the weekend of March 14-16.
He will have another opportunity to practice on the same track in Barcelona next week, this time in a 2024 model car.
On February 19, he will drive the 2025 model for the first time, with a preseason test in Bahrain scheduled for the following week.
