Joey Logano is advancing in the playoffs, but Alex Bowman is not as fortunate.

Immediately after the Bank of America ROVAL 400 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course in Concord, N.C., Bowman's No. 48 Chevrolet failed post-race inspection. This resulted in his disqualification and a drop from 18th place to last in 38th.

This loss in points caused Bowman to fall well below the cutoff line, from being nine points ahead to now being below it. On the other hand, Logano was elevated from ninth to eighth, securing his spot in the Round of 8.

Brad Moran, managing director of the NASCAR Cup Series, explained the situation after inspection. He stated, "Unfortunately, the 48 had an issue and did not meet minimum weight. We gave them every opportunity to make weight, but they were still light."

Moran continued, "All the other cars passed inspection, but the 48 did not. This resulted in a disqualification."

Hendrick Motorsports, the team that owns the 48 car, has the option to appeal the decision.

Moran mentioned that if an appeal is made, it will be expedited and resolved within the next few days. He also stated that he cannot disclose any further details at this time.

Joining Bowman in elimination on Sunday were Austin Cindric, Daniel Suarez, and Chase Briscoe.

The Round of 8 will begin next Sunday in Las Vegas, followed by races in Homestead-Miami and Martinsville, Virginia. The final four drivers will then compete for the championship in the NASCAR Cup Series Championship at Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, Arizona on November 10th.
