Surgery on Shoulder of Columbus Blue Jackets' Captain Boone Jenner

The captain of the Columbus Blue Jackets, Boone Jenner, underwent surgery on his shoulder to fix an injury he sustained during practice last week.

The procedure took place on Wednesday at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colo., as confirmed by the team on Thursday, just before their season opener against the Minnesota Wild.

\"He will begin his rehabilitation soon and we hope he can come back before the season ends,\" stated Don Waddell, the general manager of the Blue Jackets. \"His absence will be felt by our team, but we have a strong group of leaders and other players will have the opportunity to take on bigger roles both on and off the ice.\"

Last season, the 31-year-old Jenner had 35 points (22 goals, 13 assists) in 58 games.

He holds the record for most games played in franchise history (715) and is ranked third in goals (192) and points (364).

On October 12, 2021, Jenner was named the seventh captain in the history of the franchise. He was drafted by Columbus in the second round of the 2011 NHL Draft.
