"Senators Triumph Over Kings in Overtime Goal-Filled NHL Recap"

Josh Norris' second goal of the game led the Ottawa Senators to an 8-7 overtime win against the Los Angeles Kings on Monday. The center's goal just 56 seconds into the extra period marked the end of a wild game in the Canadian capital. Both teams fought back to tie the game in the third period, and they combined for seven power-play goals, with Ottawa scoring four.

In total, 11 players found the back of the net. Along with Norris, Zack MacEwen scored twice for Ottawa. Alex Laferriere and Kevin Fiala each tallied two goals for Los Angeles, who lost in overtime for the second consecutive game.

Norris received a back-hand pass from Drake Batherson between the faceoff circles and beat Kings' goalie Darcy Kuemper on the short side for the game-winning goal. His first goal came with 10:42 remaining in regulation, giving Ottawa a 7-6 lead and their first advantage of the game.

Devils 3, Utah Hockey Club 0

Jake Allen stopped all 20 shots he faced for the New Jersey Devils, who became the first NHL team to reach four wins this season by shutting out the Utah Hockey Club in Newark, N.J.

Seamus Casey and Stefan Noesen scored in the second period, while Nico Hischier added a goal in the third for the Devils, who now have a 4-1-0 record, their best start through five games since the 2018-19 season.

Goalie Karel Vejmelka recorded 30 saves for Utah, who were aiming to become the first first-year franchise to start 4-0-0. They matched the Vegas Golden Knights' 3-0-0 start in 2017-18 after relocating from Arizona following last season.

Panthers 4, Bruins 3

Anton Lundell and Sam Reinhart each scored two goals as the Florida Panthers defeated the Boston Bruins in a divisional matchup.

The linemates each scored within a span of 3:20 in the second period to break a 2-2 tie and secure the win for the Panthers, who had previously lost two games in a row after beating the Bruins in their season opener.

John Beecher and Mason Lohrei each had a goal and an assist, and Brandon Carlo also scored for the Bruins. Mark Kastelic assisted on all three Boston goals, earning the first three-point game of his NHL career.

Rangers 4, Red Wings 1

Igor Shesterkin made 31 saves, Mika Zibanejad had a goal and two assists, and the New York Rangers defeated the Detroit Red Wings at home.

Alexis Lafreniere, Chris Kreider, and Reilly Smith also scored for the Rangers, who have scored a total of 16 goals in their first three games of the season. Artemi Panarin contributed three assists, while Smith, who was acquired by the Rangers in a trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins in July, scored his first goal as a Ranger.

Dylan Larkin scored for the Red Wings, who now have a 1-2-0 record. Alex Lyon made 24 saves in his first appearance of the season.

Penguins 6, Canadiens 3

Evgeni Malkin had a goal and two assists for the Pittsburgh Penguins, who scored three unanswered goals in the third period to defeat the Montreal Canadiens on the road.

Kevin Hayes scored a rebound goal to give Pittsburgh a 4-3 lead at 7:47 of the third period. Kris Letang also scored with a shot from the slot off a pass from Malkin, making it 5-3 at 11:32. Malkin added an empty-net goal at 18:50 to seal the win. Lars Eller scored twice for Montreal, while Rickard Rakell and Tristan Jarry made 24 saves for the Penguins.

Juraj Slafkovsky, Kaiden Guhle, and Emil Heineman scored for Montreal, who now have a 2-2-0 record. Sam Montembeault made 25 saves.
