Red Wings ink restricted free agent Joe Veleno to 2-year deal

Talented forward Joe Veleno, who is a restricted free agent, inked a lucrative two-year contract worth $4.55 million with the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday.

The 24-year-old Veleno had filed for salary arbitration on July 5. Last season, he put up solid numbers of 28 points (12 goals, 16 assists) in 80 games while playing on a one-year deal worth $825,000.

Since being selected by the Red Wings with the 30th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, Veleno has accumulated a total of 64 points (30 goals, 34 assists) in 232 games.
