"Philadelphia Flyers' Forward Travis Konecny Signs 8-Year, $70 Million Contract Extension"

Philadelphia Flyers forward Travis Konecny inked an eight-year, $70 million contract extension on Thursday.

The fresh agreement, set to commence in 2025-26, will make Konecny the highest-compensated player on the Flyers\' roster.

\"Travis Konecny is a crucial part of the foundation of our team and we are ecstatic to have him locked in for the long haul,\" Flyers general manager Daniel Briere stated. \"Travis has evolved into a significant leader on our team and he truly embodies the essence of being a Flyer. His dedication, combined with his determination and skill, makes him a central figure in our pursuit of success, and his unwavering commitment to our team and city speaks volumes about his loyalty.\"

Konecny, 27, achieved career highs in goals (33), points (68), and short-handed goals (six) in 76 games last season. He fell just two assists shy of his previous best, set in 2019-20.

\"I am overjoyed to re-sign with the Flyers,\" Konecny expressed. \"There is such a bright and promising future with this team and I cannot wait to be a part of it for the next nine years and see what we can accomplish. I am incredibly grateful to all of my teammates and staff members because this opportunity would not be possible without each and every one of them along the way. I am eager to return to Philly and play in front of the best fans in the world, and I am excited for another fantastic season.\"

Konecny has amassed 400 points (174 goals, 226 assists) in 564 career games since being chosen by the Flyers with the 24th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft.
