New Jersey Devils winger Timo Meier is set to have a hearing with the NHL on Tuesday, just one day after his cross-check on Zachary L'Heureux forced the Nashville Predators forward out of their game.

During the Devils' 5-2 victory in Newark, Meier attempted to poke the puck away from Predators goalie Juuse Saros at 12:17 of the third period. L'Heureux took offense to the move, leading Meier to retaliate with a cross-check to his body and then his face. The second hit caused L'Heureux, who is only 21 years old, to bleed.

As a result of the altercation, Meier was given a five-minute cross-checking penalty and a game misconduct. L'Heureux was forced to leave the game and did not return.

Meier, who is 28 years old, has tallied 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) in 24 games so far this season.

The Switzerland native has accumulated a total of 397 points (198 goals, 199 assists) in 565 career games with the Sharks and Devils since being chosen by San Jose with the ninth overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft.

On February 26, 2023, New Jersey acquired Meier from the Sharks in a multi-player trade.
