"Oilers stage comeback in overtime to defeat Bruins in NHL recap"

Mattias Ekholm netted a goal in overtime, securing the Edmonton Oilers' 3-2 victory over the Boston Bruins on Thursday night after a two-goal comeback.

Ekholm scored as the trailer on the rush, receiving a pass from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins who picked up the puck from Boston goaltender Jeremy Swayman's pads.

The Oilers, who have won six of their last seven games, erased a 2-0 deficit with goals in the second and third periods. Zach Hyman scored the first goal for Edmonton and assisted on Connor McDavid's tying goal with 2:21 left. Leon Draisaitl had three assists and Stuart Skinner made 24 saves for the Oilers. Draisaitl and McDavid have seven-game point streaks.

Boston took an early 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Elias Lindholm and Mark Kastelic. Swayman stopped 23 shots for the Bruins, who completed a 2-2-1 road trip against Western Conference teams.

In other NHL action, the Colorado Avalanche came back to beat the San Jose Sharks 4-2, with Joel Kiviranta scoring two third-period goals. Valeri Nichushkin, Mikko Rantanen, Nathan MacKinnon, and Cale Makar also scored for the Avalanche, while Mackenzie Blackwood made 32 saves.

The Pittsburgh Penguins edged the Nashville Predators 5-4 in overtime, with Bryan Rust scoring the game-winning goal. Sidney Crosby had a goal and three assists for the Penguins, who have won eight of their last 11 games. Rickard Rakell and Erik Karlsson each had a goal and an assist for Nashville, who have five points in their last four games.

The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the St. Louis Blues 3-1, with Nikita Kucherov extending his points streak to nine games. Gage Goncalves scored his first NHL goal for the Lightning, while Anthony Cirelli and Nick Perbix also scored. Pavel Buchnevich scored the lone goal for the Blues, who have points in 10 of their last 11 games.

The Los Angeles Kings beat the Philadelphia Flyers 7-3, with Anze Kopitar and Kevin Fiala each scoring two goals. Warren Foegele, Tanner Jeannott, and Quinton Byfield also scored for the Kings, while Tyson Foerster had two goals and an assist for the Flyers.

The Chicago Blackhawks topped the Seattle Kraken 3-1, with Ilya Mikheyev scoring twice and Arvid Soderblom making 27 saves. Nolan Allan also scored for the Blackhawks, while Ryker Evans scored the lone goal for the Kraken.

The Columbus Blue Jackets doubled up on the New Jersey Devils 4-2, with Elvis Merzlikins making 40 saves. Sean Monahan had two goals and an assist for the Blue Jackets, while Luke Hughes and Timo Meier scored for the Devils.

The Ottawa Senators extended their winning streak to five games with a 3-2 overtime victory against the Calgary Flames. Brady Tkachuk scored the game-winning goal for the Senators, while Nick Cousins and Ridly Greig also scored. Blake Coleman and Jonathan Huberdeau scored for the Flames.

The Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Vancouver Canucks 3-1, with William Karlsson scoring the go-ahead goal in the third period. Brett Howden and Alex Pietrangelo also scored for the Golden Knights, while Teddy Blueger scored the lone goal for the Canucks.
