Patrik Laine recorded his 11th career hat trick on Tuesday, scoring three power-play goals to lead the Montreal Canadiens to a 6-1 victory over the struggling Buffalo Sabres. Laine's first goal came in the first period off a pass from captain Nick Suzuki, making him the second player in Canadiens history to score his first four goals with the franchise on the power play. Juraj Slafkovsky and Joel Armia also scored for Montreal, while Sam Montembeault made 20 saves in the win. Dylan Cozens scored the lone goal for Buffalo.

The Nashville Predators shut out the New York Rangers 2-0, with Juuse Saros making 25 saves for Nashville. The Carolina Hurricanes defeated the New York Islanders 4-0, with Pyotr Kochetkov recording his first shutout of the season. And the Winnipeg Jets came back to beat the San Jose Sharks 4-3, with Adam Lowry scoring the game-winning goal.
