"McDavid, Oilers' Top Player, Set to Make Comeback Against Golden Knights"
The Edmonton Oilers' standout player, Connor McDavid, is prepared to make his return to the ice on Wednesday against the visiting Vegas Golden Knights.
Initially, it was expected that McDavid would be out for two to three weeks after injuring his ankle during his first shift in a 6-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on October 28th. However, the three-time recipient of the Hart Trophy sat out the next three games before participating in the morning skate on Wednesday. He was seen practicing on a line with Zach Hyman and Jeff Skinner.
After the morning session, McDavid stated, "I feel good. Looking forward to going and getting back in there."
In the 10 games he has played this season, McDavid has recorded a team-high seven assists and three goals.
Last season, he tallied an impressive 132 points and led Edmonton to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, ultimately losing to the Florida Panthers. McDavid was named the Conn Smythe Trophy recipient as the playoff MVP.
As a five-time winner of the Art Ross Trophy for being the league's top point scorer, McDavid has amassed a total of 992 points (338 goals, 654 assists) in 655 career games since being drafted as the top overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft by the Oilers.
