Macklin Celebrini, Sharks' Top Draft Pick, Set to Make Comeback on Tuesday After Injury
The top pick in the draft, Macklin Celebrini, who has not played since his NHL debut due to a lower-body injury, is set to return to the ice with the San Jose Sharks in Tuesday's home game against Columbus.
The 18-year-old forward scored a goal and an assist in the season opener on October 10 against the St. Louis Blues, but missed the following day's practice while being evaluated for an injury.
He was placed on injured reserve on October 12 and resumed team activities on Halloween.
During Monday's practice, Celebrini participated in contact drills and played center on the Sharks' top line.
In Celebrini's absence, San Jose has a record of 3-8-2, but the team managed to win three consecutive games last week.
Celebrini was awarded the Hobey Baker Award in 2023-24 during his one-year stint at Boston University. He helped the Terriers reach the NCAA Frozen Four and recorded 64 points (32 goals, 32 assists) in 38 games.
