"Lucas Raymond Inks 8-Year, $64.6M Deal with Red Wings"

The Detroit Red Wings inked a deal with forward Lucas Raymond on Monday, securing his services for the next eight years at a value of $64.6 million. This translates to an average yearly salary of $8.075 million.

At just 22 years old, Raymond was selected as the fourth overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft and has quickly become one of the top players on the Red Wings' roster.

During the 2023-24 season, Raymond's third in the league, he led the team with an impressive 72 points (31 goals, 41 assists). These numbers were all career highs for him. He also played in all 82 games and set personal bests in categories such as blocked shots (27), hits (69), takeaways (48), and plus-minus (minus-12).

Throughout his 238 games with the Red Wings, Raymond has accumulated a total of 174 points (71 goals, 103 assists).

Alongside young teammates like defenseman Moritz Seider, Raymond is determined to put an end to the Original Six franchise's eight-year playoff drought. Last season, the Red Wings finished with a record of 41-32-9 (91 points) and narrowly missed out on a playoff spot by a tiebreaker with the Washington Capitals.
