"Lower Body Injury Sidelines Stars' D Miro Heiskanen for Extended Period"

Miro Heiskanen (lower body) out for the week, expected to return soon

Dallas Stars defender Miro Heiskanen is currently out of commission due to a lower-body injury, according to head coach Peter DeBoer's announcement on Thursday.

The 25-year-old player sustained the injury during a collision with Vegas forward Mark Stone in the third period of Tuesday's 4-3 overtime victory against the Golden Knights on the road.

As a result, Heiskanen may not be able to participate in the upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off from February 12-20. He was previously selected to represent Team Finland alongside his Dallas teammates Roope Hintz and Esa Lindell.

So far this season, Heiskanen has accumulated a total of 25 points (five goals, 20 assists) in 50 games and ranks sixth in the league for average ice time (25:10). He also has the second-highest number of blocked shots on the Stars with 85 and is currently on a five-game points streak.

Since being drafted as the No. 3 overall pick by Dallas in 2017, Heiskanen has amassed a total of 283 points (58 goals, 225 assists) in 475 games.
