"Kraken Goalie Joey Daccord Inks 5-Year, $25M Deal for Contract Extension"

Seattle Kraken goalie Joey Daccord inked a five-year, $25 million deal extension on Wednesday.

The agreement will commence next season for Daccord, who is in the final year of a two-year contract earning $1.2 million per year. Prior to Wednesday's announcement, he was set to become an unrestricted free agent in July.

\"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity the Kraken have given me,\" Daccord expressed. \"From owner Samantha Holloway, CEO Tod Leiweke, general manager Ron Francis, and the entire organization, they are all amazing individuals and a top-notch organization. I couldn't be more excited. I truly love playing in Seattle and I am thrilled to be here for another five years.\"

At 28 years old, Daccord recorded a 19-18-11 record with three shutouts, a 2.46 goals-against average, and .916 save percentage in 50 games (46 starts) for Seattle last season. He elevated his performance after taking on the lead role following Philipp Grubauer's lower-body injury on December 9th.

\"Joey stepped up last season and proved he can handle a heavier workload,\" Francis stated. \"We have confidence that he can take his game to the next level. We are thrilled to have him signed for the long term.\"

Daccord has a career record of 22-27-13 with three shutouts, a 2.77 GAA, and .907 save percentage in 69 games (61 starts) for the Ottawa Senators and Kraken. He was drafted by Ottawa in the seventh round of the 2015 NHL Draft and by Seattle in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft.
