"Kirill Kaprizov Returns to the Ice After Surgery on Wild Forward"
Kirill Kaprizov, the standout forward for the Minnesota Wild, has resumed skating for the first time since undergoing surgery in late January to fix a lower-body injury.
However, head coach John Hynes was quick to caution that this is just the first step in Kaprizov's return and there is no immediate timeline for his comeback.
The 27-year-old remains week-to-week with only 10 games remaining in the regular season. He will miss his 23rd consecutive game on Thursday against the Washington Capitals.
Prior to his surgery, Kaprizov was leading the Wild with 52 points (23 goals, 29 assists) in 37 games. He had also missed 12 games earlier in the season due to injury before returning to play on January 26.
In 315 career games with the Wild, Kaprizov has amassed a total of 382 points (183 goals, 199 assists). He was also named the NHL's top rookie and received the Calder Trophy in the 2020-21 season.
