'Injury Report: John Tavares of the Toronto Maple Leafs Hurt During Practice'
Toronto Maple Leafs forward John Tavares is currently being assessed after sustaining a possible leg injury during Wednesday's practice.
Tavares seemed to get his skate caught with teammate Chris Tanev while participating in a power-play exercise. He was able to exit the ice on his own and immediately went to the locker room.
\"There is no update yet. He is currently being evaluated,\" stated Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube. \"I didn't witness it. It occurred behind the net, so I couldn't see it clearly. He is currently being examined.\"
At 34 years old, Tavares has recorded 42 points (20 goals, 22 assists) in 43 games this season.
The first overall selection in the 2009 NHL Draft by the Islanders, Tavares has played in 1,152 games with New York (2009-18) and the Maple Leafs. He has amassed 1,082 career points (476 goals, 606 assists).
