Hurricanes Goalie Frederik Andersen to Undergo Knee Surgery, Expected to Be Sidelined for 8-12 Weeks
The Carolina Hurricanes' goaltender, Frederik Andersen, will undergo a knee procedure and be out of action for approximately eight weeks, according to a report from TSN on Thursday.
The report described the procedure as "not major" and simply a "clean-up," but the expected recovery time would keep Andersen off the ice until mid-January.
At 35 years old, Andersen has a record of 3-1-0 with a .941 save percentage and a 1.48 goals-against average in four starts this season. He has been with the Hurricanes for four seasons and has played in the NHL for 12 years. His most recent game was on October 26th.
The two-time Jennings Trophy winner has a career record of 298-128-52 with 27 shutouts, a 2.55 GAA, and a .916 save percentage in 499 games with the Anaheim Ducks (2013-16), Toronto Maple Leafs (2016-21), and Hurricanes.
In Andersen's absence, Pyotr Kochetkov will continue to be the primary goaltender for the Hurricanes, with Spencer Martin serving as the backup.
