The Carolina Hurricanes' goalie, Frederik Andersen, is considered to be out for a few weeks due to a lower-body injury, according to coach Rod Brind'Amour's announcement on Thursday.

Brind'Amour mentioned that Andersen seemed to be struggling after the Hurricanes' 4-1 win against the Seattle Kraken on Saturday. In four games this season, Andersen has a record of 3-1-0 with a 1.48 goals-against average and .941 save percentage.

\"Unfortunately, it looks like it will take a little longer than I had hoped, but we will continue to receive updates every week,\" Brind'Amour stated on Thursday.

To fill the gap, the Canes have called up Spencer Martin from the Chicago Wolves of the AHL to serve as backup for Pyotr Kochetkov in Monday's 4-3 overtime victory against the Vancouver Canucks.

Kochetkov, 25, is expected to take on the majority of the workload while Andersen is out.

\"Unfortunately, that's just how it's going to be,\" Brind'Amour said. \"I know he's eager for the opportunity, so we'll see how it all plays out. But he will most likely have a good amount of playing time.\"

Andersen, 35, has a career record of 298-128-52 in 499 games (485 starts) with the Anaheim Ducks (2013-16), Toronto Maple Leafs (2016-21), and Hurricanes. He is a two-time recipient of the William M. Jennings Trophy.
