"Debut Season for Bruins' Goalie Jeremy Swayman Against Canadiens"

"Season Opener: Bruins Goalie Jeremy Swayman to Make Debut Against Canadiens"

After inking an eight-year, $66 million deal on Sunday, Boston Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman will make his first appearance of the season on Thursday against the Montreal Canadiens.

Swayman sat out all of training camp and the preseason while his agent and the Bruins hashed out a new contract. Backup Joonas Korpisalo got the start in the season opener against the Florida Panthers, resulting in a 6-4 loss for the Bruins on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old Swayman had a 25-10-8 record with a 2.53 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage in 2023-24, playing under a one-year, $3.475 million contract awarded by an independent arbitrator.

Swayman boasts a 79-33-15 record, a .919 save percentage, and a 2.34 goals-against average in parts of four seasons with Boston. He and Linus Ullmark, who was traded to the Ottawa Senators in the offseason, shared the William M. Jennings Trophy in 2022-23 after their combined efforts resulted in the fewest goals allowed in the NHL for the Bruins.

Last season, Swayman went 6-6 in 12 playoff starts with a .933 save percentage and 2.15 GAA.
