Capitals Put F Lars Eller (Sickness) on Disabled List
On Saturday, Lars Eller of the Washington Capitals was placed on injured reserve due to illness. In his place, fellow forward Henrik Rybinski has been recalled from the American Hockey League team, Hershey.
The decision to put Eller on injured reserve is retroactive to December 17th. The Capitals acquired him from the Pittsburgh Penguins on November 12th, trading a fifth-round draft pick in 2025 and a third-round selection in 2027.
At 35 years old, Eller has recorded two goals and four assists in 16 games for the Capitals this season. During his time with the Penguins, he had four goals and three assists in 17 games. Throughout his career, he has played in 1,069 games and has a total of 184 goals and 231 assists. He has played for teams such as St. Louis, Montreal, Washington, Colorado, and Pittsburgh. He was drafted 13th overall by the Blues in the 2007 NHL Draft and is originally from Denmark.
In 2018, Eller was part of the Washington Capitals team that won the Stanley Cup.
Henrik Rybinski, who is 23 years old, was selected by the Florida Panthers in the fifth round of the 2019 NHL Draft. This season, he has recorded 20 points (six goals, 14 assists) in 28 games with Hershey.
