Reports: Devils, Dawson Mercer agree to 3-year deal
Agreement has been reached between Dawson Mercer, a restricted free agent, and the New Jersey Devils for a three-year contract extension worth $12 million. This was reported by multiple sources on Friday.
Mercer, a 22-year-old center, was drafted No. 18 overall in the 2020 NHL Draft. During his time with the Devils, he has shown impressive durability by playing in all 82 games for three consecutive seasons. He has accumulated a total of 131 points (64 goals, 67 assists) in his career.
Although he had a less successful season, scoring only 33 points (20 goals, 13 assists), Mercer bounced back in the 2022-23 season with career highs of 27 goals, 29 assists, and 56 points.
The Devils will kick off their preseason against the New York Islanders on Sunday.
