'Knee Injury Forces Wild's Kirill Kaprizov to Miss Game Against Flames'
Kirill Kaprizov, the standout forward for the Minnesota Wild, was absent from their away game against the Calgary Flames on Saturday due to a lower-body injury.
During Thursday's game, Kaprizov was involved in a knee-on-knee collision with Drake Caggiula of the Edmonton Oilers. This left him tied with Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche for the NHL lead in points at 34.
Despite finishing the game, Kaprizov did not participate in Friday's practice.
According to Minnesota coach John Hynes, the hit was indeed a knee-on-knee and he was relieved to see Kaprizov return to the game. However, he also expressed his disapproval of such hits in the sport.
Kaprizov had been on a record-breaking 11-game point streak on the road, accumulating 24 points with eight goals and 16 assists. He also had a seven-game point streak with 13 points, including six goals and seven assists.
The Wild had the best record in franchise history after 19 games, with a record of 13-3-3, including a league-leading 9-1-2 record on the road.
In addition to Kaprizov, the Wild were also missing forward Marat Khusnutdinov due to a lower-body injury. They called up forward Travis Boyd for Saturday's game.
