"Sergio Garcia finalizes LIV team with compatriot Luis Masaveu"

"Sergio Garcia finalizes LIV team with Spanish teammate Luis Masaveu"

Sergio Garcia finalized his 2025 LIV Golf lineup by adding fellow Spaniard Luis Masaveu to Fireballs GC.

The 22-year-old Madrid native will also be joining forces with Spain's David Puig and Mexico's Abraham Ancer.

Masaveu made it to the semifinals of the 2024 U.S. Amateur and has twice won the Low-Am trophy at the Spanish Open (in 2022 and 2024). He also made history as the first Spanish amateur to make the cut at the Open Championship last year.

"We are thrilled to have him," Garcia stated. "He is a very talented and promising young Spanish player. He has a lot of potential. He is a wonderful player and a great kid...

"Of course, it is his first year as a professional and he will be playing alongside the big names, so I believe it will be a valuable learning experience for him. But not just myself, both Abraham and David will be there to support him, encourage him, and ensure that he enjoys his game and plays to his full potential."

While Garcia finished third in the individual championship, Fireballs is determined to improve their performance from the previous season where they placed sixth out of 13 teams. Masaveu, who turned pro in October and secured full Challenge Tour status through the Global Amateur Pathway ranking, will now replace Eugenio Chacarra on the Fireballs team.

"It is incredible. It is amazing," Masaveu expressed. "I have been watching (Garcia) since I was a child, witnessing his victory at the Masters and in the Ryder Cup. So, it is truly an honor. I am extremely happy to be here and I am determined to learn as much as I can from him."

Fireballs is the only team to have won at least one tournament in each of LIV's first three years.

"Luis is a fantastic person and a great player. I have had the pleasure of playing alongside him for many years on the Spanish team, so I know him very well," Puig, 23, shared. "He is a great guy, and I am excited to have him on our team."

There is one remaining spot on the 2025 LIV roster, with Northern Ireland's Tom McKibbin expected to sign soon with Jon Rahm's Legion XIII.
