Four top players from the PGA Tour and LIV Golf will compete on December 17th in Las Vegas in what is being called The Showdown.

The exhibition match will feature World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and No. 3 Rory McIlroy from the PGA side facing off against LIV golfers Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka. All four are multiple major champions, but the LIV golfers have limited opportunities to earn ranking points.

The previously announced made-for-TV event has now been confirmed to take place at Shadow Creek Golf Course, as reported by Front Office Sports on Wednesday. This course previously hosted the first version of The Match, which was a precursor to The Showdown, between Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods. The December event may also have up to 5,000 spectators in attendance.

The specific format for the match has not yet been decided, according to the report.

The event will be broadcast by TNT Sports, as previous versions have been, and will consist of 18 holes.

Some celebrity-driven versions of The Match have been shortened to 12 holes.

According to Hollywood producer Bryan Zuriff, who created The Match, \"The Match turned into a celebrity golf event,\" and 12 holes is suitable for that type of event. However, The Showdown will feature 18 holes of real golf and may potentially expand in the future.

Zuriff also has plans to include more than four players in the future.

Front Office Sports reports that there is a six-year agreement to continue The Showdown in both Las Vegas at Shadow Creek and at international locations, with a different location each year. A potential event in the Middle East is being considered for 2025.

Zuriff believes that The Showdown will generate a lot of interest, as it is the only time outside of major tournaments that PGA and LIV golfers can compete against each other.

According to Zuriff, \"I don't think we need to promote or hype it up. I think it speaks for itself.\"
