"Vikings Quarterback Sam Darnold Prepares and is Set for Matchup Against Bears"
Quarterback Sam Darnold jumpstarted the Vikings\' offense on Thursday as he has for most of the 2024 season, and is expected to play in a significant NFC North away game against Chicago on Sunday.
Darnold returned to practice after being limited on Wednesday due to a foot injury.
The Vikings (8-2) are preparing for another close matchup with the Bears (4-6), who won a close game at Minnesota last year while head coach Kevin O\'Connell was rotating quarterbacks to replace the injured Kirk Cousins.
However, this is no longer an issue.
After Cousins left for a new team in Atlanta, the Vikings signed Darnold to a one-year contract and drafted Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy in the first round. Darnold has already achieved eight victories, surpassing the 7-10 record the Vikings had with a constantly changing QB lineup consisting of Cousins, Jaren Hall, Nick Mullens, and Joshua Dobbs.
\"Our goal for Sam is for him to play the best football of his career,\" O\'Connell stated.
Darnold is delivering and the Vikings are heading into Soldier Field on Sunday with a three-game winning streak.
He has recorded a 100.0 passer rating in 10 starts, completing a personal best 67.9 percent of his passes for 2,387 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
His next touchdown pass will be a career high for Darnold, who struggled with the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers before serving as the backup for the San Francisco 49ers last season.
\"I feel like, without mentioning past experiences, the attention to detail has been present since OTAs in April,\" Darnold explained. \"We've been able to focus on our progressions, our footwork, and our vision. And being on time with our plays.
\"When you play like that, it makes the quarterback position a little easier.\"
