Report: Panthers LB Shaq Thompson dealing with Achilles injury
Carolina Panthers standout linebacker Shaq Thompson suffered what is thought to be a ruptured Achilles and will be out for the rest of the year, according to a report from NFL Network on Monday.
As per the report, Thompson will undergo an MRI on Monday to confirm the extent of the injury.
During the fourth quarter of the Panthers' 34-24 defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, Thompson was able to walk off the field before being taken to the locker room on a cart.
In that game, Thompson made five tackles, bringing his total to 35 in four games this season, all of which he started.
Last season, he only played in two games before fracturing his fibula.
The 30-year-old Thompson has amassed 752 tackles, 12 sacks, four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and three interceptions in 123 career games, starting in 112 of them. He was chosen by the Panthers with the 25th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
