Undermanned Eagles Sign Quarterback Ian Book to Practice Squad
Amid uncertainty at the quarterback position, the Philadelphia Eagles welcomed QB Ian Book for a visit on Christmas Day.
Book, 26, is no stranger to the organization. He was released by the Eagles in August 2023 as they finalized their 53-man roster.
Starting QB Jalen Hurts is currently in the concussion protocol, while backup Kenny Pickett sustained a rib injury last Sunday in a loss to the Washington Commanders.
Second-year player Tanner McKee is currently the team's third-string quarterback.
Book was drafted in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Saints. The former Notre Dame standout has only played in one NFL game, starting for New Orleans on December 27, 2021, in a 20-3 defeat against the Miami Dolphins.
He has also spent time with the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs.
The Eagles (12-3) have secured a spot in the NFL playoffs and will host the Dallas Cowboys (7-8) this Sunday.
