Struggling Dolphins sticking with QB Tyler Huntley
Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel intends to implement modifications as the team returns to work with a 1-3 record and a looming match against the New England Patriots.
The Dolphins currently rank at the bottom, just one spot below the Patriots, in terms of points scored per game this season. In their most recent game, Miami suffered a 31-12 loss to the previously winless Tennessee Titans, marking their third consecutive defeat. Throughout this losing streak, the Dolphins have only managed to score a total of 25 points. It is worth noting that last season, Miami boasted the second-highest scoring offense in the NFL, averaging 29.2 points per game.
\"On the field, our performance is far from satisfactory,\" stated McDaniel on Monday night.
\"We are considering all options. In a situation like this, where we are struggling to produce, we must keep an open mind and explore all possibilities.\"
Starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been sidelined since suffering a concussion in Week 2, and it is uncertain when he will return. Last week, Skylar Thompson started at quarterback but was unable to participate in a full practice due to an injury.
In their game against the Titans, the Dolphins turned to recently signed Tyler Huntley as their quarterback. According to McDaniel, the game plan was tailored to Huntley's strengths, incorporating elements from his previous offenses with the Ravens and Browns.
Although Huntley managed to score Miami's first touchdown since Week 2 with a fourth-quarter keeper, he fell short of 100 passing yards in the game.
McDaniel believes that an early turnover on a lateral pass shifted the momentum of the game.
\"Overall, there is nothing positive about our current situation in terms of where we want to be as a team,\" McDaniel admitted. \"We need to do enough to win against any opponent. Right now, that is not the case. We need to address this issue quickly.\"
