'Raiders' Kolton Miller abstains from optional training sessions in pursuit of revised contract'

Kolton Miller, member of the 'Raiders', opts out of voluntary training to negotiate revised contract

Las Vegas Raiders left tackle Kolton Miller has chosen not to participate in the team's voluntary workouts in hopes of securing a more favorable contract, according to reports on Wedensday.

Miller, 29, has been the Raiders' starting left tackle since being drafted 15th overall in the 2018 NFL Draft from UCLA. The 6-foot-8, 325-pound lineman has started 107 of 109 games over the past seven seasons and, according to Pro Football Focus, ranked as the league's 14th-best tackle in the 2024 season.

Under the leadership of new coach Pete Carroll, the Raiders began voluntary workouts on April 8. As per NFL regulations, veterans are not required to participate in offseason activities. However, with the Raiders scheduled to hold a voluntary minicamp from April 21-23, Miller's absence becomes more noticeable as the new offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, new quarterback Geno Smith, and the rest of the offensive unit prepare for the upcoming season.

The team has a mandatory minicamp scheduled from June 10-12.

According to Spotrac, Miller signed a three-year, $54 million contract before the 2023 season. He is set to earn $12,255,998 in the final year of his contract with a $50,000 workout bonus. If Miller does not sign a new contract before the end of the 2025 season, he will become an unrestricted free agent.
