"Raheem Morris Commends Tyler Allgeier Following Falcons' Third Consecutive Victory"

Six games into the Raheem Morris era in Atlanta, the Falcons\' high-powered offense has helped put them in the driver\'s seat of the NFC South.

The team\'s 4-2 start is the best for the franchise since 2016, the year Atlanta reached Super Bowl LI. The Falcons are fresh off three consecutive wins against divisional opponents following Sunday\'s 38-20 road victory against the Carolina Panthers. Atlanta scored 38 points, their highest total since Nov. 29, 2020 when they defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 43-6 at home.

The Falcons\' running game was a major factor in their offensive success on Sunday. Backup running back Tyler Allgeier rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown, while starter Bijan Robinson added 95 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Morris, who previously served as the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams, was familiar with Allgeier's physical running style before becoming the head coach in Atlanta.

\"Tyler was a thorn in my side during his rookie season,\" Morris said of facing Allgeier in Los Angeles in 2022. \"As a defensive coordinator, I had to figure out who he was. I remember telling my team, \'This guy runs hard.\' ... He is a powerful back with great vision and intent. I love the dynamic between him and Bijan, and how they support each other. They are the epitome of great teammates.\"

Atlanta swept their crucial three-game stretch against NFC South opponents, defeating New Orleans and Tampa Bay before their win over the Panthers. They currently hold the tiebreaker over the Buccaneers for first place, but the two teams will face off again in Week 8 in Tampa.

Next up for the Falcons is a home game against the struggling Seattle Seahawks, who are on a three-game losing streak.

Morris, who is coaching his 66th game as an NFL head coach (with a record of 25-40 overall with Tampa Bay in 2009-2011 and Atlanta in 2020 and 2024), knows not to underestimate Seattle, despite their recent struggles.

\"Geno (Smith) has been playing well in his bounce-back season,\" Morris said of the Seahawks\' quarterback. \"D.K. Metcalf has been a physical force in the league for a while, and Tyler Lockett has been a thorn in my side for years. ... We have a tough challenge ahead of us.\"

On the injury front, special teamer Micah Abernathy suffered a knee injury on Sunday and will likely be out for a significant amount of time, according to Morris.

Linebacker Troy Andersen also missed Sunday\'s game with a knee injury, and his status will be evaluated as the week progresses.
