Kansas CIty Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco may potentially return from injured reserve and participate in Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers.

However, head coach Andy Reid mentioned that both Pacheco and fellow injured reserve candidate Charles Omenihu still have some work to do before they can play.

"We'll have to wait and see. We'll assess their progress throughout the week and make a decision from there," said Reid. "It's a day-by-day situation."

Pacheco suffered a fractured fibula in his right leg during a Week 2 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, after rushing for 135 yards on 34 carries.

Although the Chiefs activated the 21-day window for Pacheco and Omenihu last week, Reid has already ruled out their participation in the game against the Buffalo Bills. He is, however, open to the possibility of them playing in Week 12 against the Panthers, but only after receiving medical clearance.

"He's a real firecracker, emotionally," Reid said of Pacheco. "He's put in a lot of hard work to get to where he is now. We need to keep a close eye on him. He would have played three weeks ago if it was up to him, but sometimes that's just how it goes. I appreciate his mentality and the effort he's put in to reach this point."

Omenihu is still on the physically unable to perform list as he works towards recovering from an ACL tear sustained during the AFC Championship game.

Reid also provided an update on injured wide receiver Hollywood Brown, who caused a stir by posting a clock emoji on his social media account. According to Reid, Brown is not yet ready to return to practice.

"He's making great progress, but I can't give a specific timeline for his return," Reid said. "He's another player who is eager to get back on the field. I appreciate his approach to the whole situation."

Brown suffered a dislocated sternoclavicular joint during a preseason game in August, which resulted in a trip to the hospital.
