"Patriots Defensive Tackle Christian Barmore (thrombosis) Anticipated to Attend Voluntary Training"

Christian Barmore, Pats' Defensive Tackle, Anticipated to Attend Voluntary Program Despite Blood Clot Condition

Christian Barmore, the starting defensive tackle for the New England Patriots, is set to join the team's voluntary offseason program next week. Barmore only played in four games last season due to blood clot issues.

This information was shared by first-year head coach Mike Vrabel, who spoke with reporters on Monday at the NFL's annual meeting in Palm Beach, Florida.

According to Vrabel, he recently saw Barmore, who is 25 years old, and noticed an improvement in his energy and presence. However, the medical staff will continue to monitor his condition.

Vrabel emphasized the seriousness of blood clots and stated that the team will develop a plan for Barmore's health.

Barmore, who was drafted by the Patriots in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, missed the first 10 games of last season and only played in four before being sidelined again due to a recurrence of the blood clots.

In his 48 career games, Barmore has recorded 13.5 sacks, 139 tackles, 33 QB hits, and one forced fumble. He recently signed a four-year, $83 million contract extension with the Patriots on April 29, 2024.
