"Panthers Put Tight End Ian Thomas (Calf Injury) on Injured Reserve"

The Carolina Panthers put Ian Thomas on injured reserve on Saturday and added tight end Feleipe Franks to the 53-man roster.

Thomas will be out for the next four weeks due to a calf injury.

He has been unable to play since the beginning of training camp and was previously ruled out for the Panthers' first game against the New Orleans Saints.

Thomas, who is 28 years old, had five receptions for 56 yards in 12 games (five starts) last season. He has a total of 116 catches for 1,055 yards and four touchdowns in his career with the Panthers, playing in 94 games and starting in 52 of them.

Carolina also signed Jayden Peevy, a defensive tackle, to the active roster from the practice squad along with Franks.

Franks, who is 26 years old, used to play quarterback at Florida but has now switched to the tight end position. He threw one interception in his only pass attempt in the NFL while playing for the Atlanta Falcons in 2021.

In addition, the Panthers promoted running back Mike Boone and cornerback Lonnie Johnson from the practice squad on Saturday.
