"Packers Appoint Ed Policy as Future CEO"

"Packers Select Ed Policy as Future CEO"

Ed Policy was appointed as the upcoming leader of the Green Bay Packers on Monday.

The team's board of directors unanimously chose Policy for the position from a vast pool of contenders. He will also hold the titles of chairman of the board and CEO and will take on these roles in July 2025 when Mark Murphy retires.

Policy currently serves as the general counsel and chief operating officer for Green Bay.

"Ed has been an invaluable asset to the organization during his 12 years here and has played a crucial role in our accomplishments," Murphy stated in a press release. "He is highly regarded - both within the organization and in the NFL. I have enjoyed working with him and am confident he will be an exceptional steward for the organization."

The Packers are the only community-owned team in the NFL, and Policy, 53, will become the public face of the franchise.

"This is the absolute best position in sports. We are the caretakers of the most renowned and distinctive organization in all of professional sports," he expressed. "I am thrilled to continue working with so many talented colleagues who have ensured the Packers' consistent success on and off the field. We are the people's team, and I am proud to be a part of it."

Policy's background includes nine years with the Arena Football League, where he ultimately served as commissioner, president, and CEO (2008-09).

His father, Carmen Policy, was the president and CEO of the San Francisco 49ers during their Super Bowl-winning seasons in the 1980s and '90s and later of the Cleveland Browns.
