Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni altered his course on Monday and expressed regret for engaging with a group of fans as his team secured a victory against the Cleveland Browns.

The Eagles struggled to pull away from the struggling Browns, and fans could be heard booing the team and chanting "Fire Nick" at various points during the game.

As Philadelphia (3-2) ran out the clock on a 20-16 win over Cleveland (1-5), the FOX broadcast captured Sirianni walking towards the stands. With a smile, he was seen shouting and pointing to his ear, seemingly indicating that he could no longer hear the booing.

Sirianni stated after the game that he was "having fun" and "just excited to get the win." However, during a conference call with reporters on Monday, he had a different tone.

"I was attempting to bring energy and enthusiasm yesterday, and I apologize for how my energy was directed towards the end of the game," Sirianni admitted. "My focus should have been solely on coaching, motivating, and celebrating with our team. I need to have better judgment and awareness of when to use that energy, and that was not the appropriate time."

Sirianni, who has previously interacted with opposing fans during away games, acknowledged that football is an emotional sport, but he needs to control himself in certain situations.

"I don't think there's a playbook for that, but ultimately, it's okay to be passionate and have energy, just like I did with the team today when we watched film together," he explained. "But again, it's about having the awareness of when to do so."

Philadelphia sports fans have a reputation for being particularly loud and quick to boo. Sirianni, 43, is in his fourth season as head coach and has led the Eagles to the playoffs in each of his first three years, including a Super Bowl appearance. However, the team has only won four of their last 12 games (regular season and playoffs) since starting last season with a record of 10-1.

"We have the greatest fans in the world," Sirianni praised. "There's no place like this."
