The Buffalo Bills have added Lucas Havrisik to their practice squad, providing competition for struggling kicker Tyler Bass.

Bass secured the win against the New York Jets on Monday with a 22-yard field goal, but also missed an extra point and a 47-yard field goal attempt.

Although the missed PAT may have been tipped by the Jets' Quinnen Williams, play-by-play announcer Joe Buck still took the opportunity to criticize Bass on national television.

Head coach Sean McDermott acknowledged that Bass needs to improve his performance, stating, "He knows he needs to make those kicks."

So far this season, Bass has made nine out of 12 field goals and 18 out of 20 extra points for the Bills.

Since joining the team in 2020, Bass has a success rate of 84.1% on field goals and 97.0% on PATs.

General manager Brandon Beane has had conversations with Bass about his performance and the team has worked out other kickers, but they still have faith in Bass and want him to succeed.

In last season's playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Bass missed a potential game-tying field goal.

Bass signed a four-year contract in April 2023 and currently has a $4.4 million cap hit.

Beane stated that the team will continue to monitor Bass's performance and consider other options if necessary.

Havrisik and Harrison Mevis had tryouts with the Bills on Wednesday.

Havrisik, who played for the Los Angeles Rams last season, made 15 out of 20 field goals and missed three extra points.
