Baltimore Ravens signal-caller Lamar Jackson is still feeling unwell and missed yet another training camp session on Friday.

According to head coach John Harbaugh, \"He's battling an illness and working closely with our medical staff. We're running more tests to ensure that everything is taken care of, and I have confidence that he'll return soon.\"

\"It's just unpredictable. I'm sure you've all been sick before, and it's not always easy. That's what we're dealing with right now.\"

The reigning NFL MVP has been absent for four out of the first five practices at training camp. He briefly participated on Wednesday but left after just an hour.

In Jackson's absence, 38-year-old backup quarterback Josh Johnson took over the first-team offense. Rookie Devin Leary, a sixth-round draft pick in April, and undrafted free agent Emory Jones are also part of the 90-man training camp roster.

Last season, Jackson, 27, threw for 3,678 yards and 24 touchdowns and rushed for 821 yards and five touchdowns in 16 starts (with a record of 13-3), earning his second MVP award (2019).

Baltimore's preseason opener is scheduled for August 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Jackson has not played in a preseason game since 2021, when he completed 3 of 4 passes.
