Jerry Jones took exception to being interrogated about the Dallas Cowboys' lineup and perceived lack of offseason maneuvers during his weekly radio appearance on Tuesday morning.

However, Jones didn't stop there, as the team's owner and general manager seemed to threaten the jobs of radio hosts Shan Shariff and R.J. Choppy during the interview on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. This came just two days after the Cowboys (3-3) suffered a disappointing 47-9 loss to the Detroit Lions on Jones' 82nd birthday.

Jones was being interviewed while en route to Atlanta for the fall NFL league meeting.

The hosts' inquiries about the Cowboys' relatively quiet offseason seemed to irk Jones.

"This is not your responsibility. Your duty isn't to have me explain all the reasons behind my actions and apologize for them. That's not your job...I'll find someone else to ask these questions, gentlemen. I'm not joking.

"You're not going to figure out the team's successes and failures. If you think you can, or any five or ten people like you, then you should come to this (NFL) meeting that I'm attending today with all 32 teams present. You must be geniuses.

"Do you really believe that you can sit here with a microphone and point out all the things I've done wrong without acknowledging the things I've done right?"

Jones was quick to mention the Cowboys' record-breaking deals with star quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.

"I know we have exceptional personnel," he stated. "Very exceptional personnel. We just made our quarterback the highest-paid player in the NFL. We also topped the list for receivers. So we have committed to our key players. We were short-handed on defense, but every team deals with that. That's not an excuse in the NFL. Your depth should step up and compensate to some extent. You can't make up for the gap between how our offense played and how it was supposed to play.

"Now, I have to give Detroit credit. They came at us and put pressure on us, putting players on top of every offensive lineman we had. They attacked us and caused problems for Dak and our running game. We need to be able to handle that."

Jones and the Cowboys have some time to cool off after their loss on Sunday. Dallas, currently on a bye week, will return to action on October 27th against the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara, California.
