Backup quarterback for the Saints, Jake Haener, revealed to reporters on Friday that he has been diagnosed with a type of skin cancer.

Haener shared that he was informed of the diagnosis right before the start of training camp. He also mentioned that he believes the diagnosis is quite uncommon. After noticing a bump on his face, Haener went to see doctors and received the news.

The 25-year-old assured that the cancer is not currently considered life-threatening.

Haener, who was selected by the Saints in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft from Fresno State, is entering his second season in the NFL after not playing at all during his rookie year last fall.
