Jaguars appoint Anthony Campanile as their new defensive coordinator

The Jacksonville Jaguars brought on Anthony Campanile as their new defensive coordinator.

According to head coach Liam Coen, \"Anthony Campanile embodies everything we want our defense and team to be. He brings a fierce defensive mindset and a system that can adapt to our players, allowing them to play with speed and physicality.\"

Most recently, Campanile served as the linebackers coach and run game coordinator for the Green Bay Packers in 2024.

Prior to that, the 42-year-old was the linebackers coach for the Miami Dolphins from 2020-2023.

He began his coaching career at the high school level, working at New Jersey's Don Bosco Prep before moving on to positions at Rutgers, Boston College, and Michigan.

Campanile's only experience as a defensive leader came in 2018 at Boston College, where he served as co-defensive coordinator.

The Jaguars hired Coen earlier this month to replace Doug Pederson as head coach. Coen previously worked as the offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but left on awkward terms after reportedly being offered the highest-paid OC position in the NFL.

According to reports, the Buccaneers are not making it easy for Coen to assemble his coaching staff.

ESPN reported on Friday morning that the Buccaneers have denied Jacksonville's request to interview assistant offensive line coach Brian Picucci for a potential role on Coen's staff. The Tampa Bay Times also reported that the Buccaneers declined the Jaguars' request to speak with offensive line coach Kevin Carberry.
