The Dallas Cowboys have placed defensive tackle Jordan Phillips on injured reserve due to a right wrist injury, resulting in him missing a minimum of four games.

In a corresponding move, the Cowboys have signed veteran defensive lineman Carlos Watkins from the Washington Commanders' practice squad.

Phillips, who will turn 32 on Saturday, has played in two games for Dallas this season and recorded one tackle.

On August 15, the Cowboys traded a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft to the New York Giants in exchange for Phillips and a seventh-round selection.

Last season, Phillips, who was 31 at the time, had 15 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 14 games (nine starts) with the Buffalo Bills. Throughout his 122 career games (62 starts) with the Miami Dolphins (2015-18), Bills (2018-19, 2022-23), Arizona Cardinals (2020-21) and Cowboys, he has accumulated 182 tackles and 24 sacks.

Watkins, who is 30 years old, has played in one game for Washington this season. Over the course of his eight seasons in the NFL, he has recorded 139 tackles, including 17 tackles for loss, six sacks, and one interception, which he returned for a touchdown. He has played for the Houston Texans (2017-20), Cowboys (2021-22), Cardinals (2023), and Washington (2024).

His most impressive season was in 2021 with Dallas, where he played in 15 games (14 starts) and achieved career highs with 32 tackles, five tackles for loss, one interception, and one sack.
