'Head Coach Andy Reid of the Chiefs Expects Patrick Mahomes to Begin Against the Texans'
The head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, Andy Reid, stated on Thursday that it is highly probable that quarterback Patrick Mahomes will start in Saturday's game against the Houston Texans, who will be visiting.
Despite suffering an ankle sprain during the fourth quarter of last Sunday's 21-7 win over the Cleveland Browns, Mahomes fully participated in practice on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Reid confirmed on Thursday that Mahomes will most likely play in the upcoming game and expressed his satisfaction with the quarterback's performance during practice.
According to Reid, Mahomes looked good and moved around well during practice. He also mentioned that he always makes sure that Mahomes is able to avoid further harm before allowing him to play.
Reid also praised Mahomes' mental toughness and his ability to bounce back from injuries.
A win for the Chiefs (13-1) against the Texans (9-5) and a loss or tie by the Buffalo Bills (11-3) against the New England Patriots (3-11) would secure the No. 1 seed in the AFC for the Chiefs.
In the event that Mahomes is unable to play, Carson Wentz will step in as the No. 2 quarterback for the Chiefs and make his 94th career start. Wentz took over for Mahomes in the final two possessions of last week's game.
