ESPN and NFL insider Peter Schrager strike a partnership agreement
ESPN revealed that it has finalized an agreement with NFL insider Peter Schrager.
According to Front Office Sports, the two parties were in "serious discussions" last week, and ESPN officially announced the deal on Tuesday.
Schrager, who is 42 years old, is well-known for his role as co-host of "Good Morning Football" on the NFL Network, as well as his pre-game and sideline work for Fox Sports' NFL broadcasts. He bid farewell to GMFB on Monday.
Schrager is expected to make appearances on various programs across the network, including "SportsCenter," "NFL Live," "First Take" with Stephen A. Smith, "The Pat McAfee Show," and "Get Up" with Mike Greenberg. He will also contribute to ESPN's coverage of the 2025 NFL Draft later this month.
In a statement, ESPN's president of content Burke Magnus said, "Peter's charismatic style and extensive knowledge of the NFL will have an immediate impact at ESPN. His versatility is a valuable asset and will be showcased on our shows and platforms as he becomes a prominent voice in our NFL coverage. He is a fantastic addition to our team."
Schrager began his career as a writer for ESPN.com before joining FoxSports.com and gradually expanding his role as an NFL insider, which eventually led to his position on "Good Morning Football." He has also co-authored two books: "Strength of a Champion" with former NFL linebacker O.J. Brigance, and the New York Times bestseller "Out of the Blue" with former New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz.
Schrager joined GMFB for its launch in 2016.
In a statement, he expressed his excitement for the opportunity with ESPN, saying, "Aside from their exceptional year-round coverage of the NFL, ESPN holds a special place in my heart as I grew up watching SportsCenter three or four times every morning before school and was a huge fan of the NFL Primetime music with Chris Berman and Tom Jackson on Sunday nights. I can't wait to be a part of it all and am honored to join this incredible team."
