"Colts Intend to Begin Game with Quarterback Anthony Richardson Against Dolphins"

"Colts intend to give QB Anthony Richardson the starting role against the Dolphins"

The Miami Dolphins will face off against the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday, with quarterback Anthony Richardson expected to make his return after sitting out two games due to an oblique injury.

According to Colts coach Shane Steichen, Richardson should be ready to go unless there are any setbacks.

Richardson sustained the injury during a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on September 29. In his absence, veteran Joe Flacco stepped in for the team's 27-24 victory. Flacco also started in the Colts' 37-34 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars and their 20-17 win against the Tennessee Titans.

The Colts chose to make Richardson inactive for both games and listed him as their emergency quarterback for Sunday's game. He participated in limited practices on Wednesday and Friday, but was a full participant on Thursday.

Steichen explained that the decision to keep Richardson out was to ensure that he was at 100% before returning to the field. However, he is now very close to being fully recovered and should be in good shape for this week's game.

Richardson, who is only 22 years old, started the first four games of the season and has completed 39 of 77 passes for 654 yards, three touchdowns, and six interceptions. He has also rushed for 141 yards and one touchdown on 21 attempts.

The Colts selected Richardson with the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Last season, he started four games and completed 50 of 84 passes for 577 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception before suffering a season-ending injury to his right shoulder in Week 5. He also rushed for 136 yards and four touchdowns.

Steichen emphasized the importance of having Richardson healthy for the long haul of the season, as they are currently six games in.
