Browns RB Nick Chubb to return to practice Wednesday
The Cleveland Browns' running back, Nick Chubb, will participate in his first practice of the season on Wednesday, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski's announcement on Monday.
Chubb began the regular season on the physically unable to perform list after undergoing surgery last September to repair a torn left MCL and meniscus. He then had another surgery in November to repair a torn left ACL, all injuries sustained in Week 2 of 2023.
Players who start the regular season on the PUP list are required to sit out for at least four games.
Stefanski stated that the Browns (1-3) are opening the 21-day practice window to potentially add Chubb to the 53-man roster.
\"He's putting in a lot of effort,\" Stefanski said. \"The natural progression is for him to start practicing...we'll see how he progresses from there.\"
The Browns suffered a 20-16 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. They will face the Washington Football Team (3-1) on Sunday.
Chubb, who is 28 years old, has been selected to four consecutive Pro Bowl teams (2019-2022) and has rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of those seasons, including 1,525 yards in 2022.
Since being drafted by the Browns with the 35th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Chubb has accumulated 6,511 yards and 48 touchdowns in 77 games (70 starts).
Jerome Ford is currently the Browns' top rusher this season with 203 yards on 39 carries (5.2-yard average) and one touchdown in four games.
