Announcement: Raiders to Add Norv Turner to Coaching Staff

According to NFL Network, the Las Vegas Raiders are enlisting the services of Norv Turner as an assistant on Tuesday.

Turner is joining the Raiders while his son, Scott, is reportedly being considered for the role of offensive play-caller after the team's bye week. Scott Turner currently serves as the passing-game coordinator under head coach Antonio Pierce.

This news follows the recent firings of offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, offensive line coach James Cregg, and quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello on Sunday night. All three were in their first season with the Raiders.

At 72 years old, Norv Turner is returning to the franchise where he previously held a record of 9-23 as head coach in 2004 and 2005 when the team was based in Oakland. He also has head coaching experience with Washington (1994-2000) and the then-San Diego Chargers (2007-2012), with an overall record of 49-59-1.

Turner's last NFL coaching role was in 2019 as a special assistant and offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers under head coach Ron Rivera.
