Bengals secure RB Khalil Herbert from Bears to fulfill requirement
The Cincinnati Bengals obtained running back Khalil Herbert from the Chicago Bears on Tuesday in return for a seventh-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Herbert adds depth to the Bengals' backfield as fellow running back Zack Moss is currently dealing with a neck injury and has been ruled out indefinitely by head coach Zac Taylor.
Chase Brown is the top rusher for the Bengals, but he left last week's game against the Raiders with bruised ribs. No other running back on the Cincinnati roster has had a rushing attempt in 2024.
Herbert, who is 26 years old, fell out of the rotation in Chicago after the signing of D'Andre Swift and the emergence of Roschon Johnson as a short-yardage option.
He has rushed for 16 yards and a touchdown on eight carries with the Bears this season. In his 48 career games (12 starts) with the Bears, he has rushed for 1,791 yards and nine touchdowns, along with 45 catches for 291 yards and two scores.
Herbert was drafted by the Bears in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech.
