"Announcement: Bills to Release Safety Mike Edwards at His Request"
The Buffalo Bills have granted the request for release from veteran safety Mike Edwards, according to a report from NFL Network. This will only happen if a trade is not made before the Tuesday deadline.
Edwards, who is 28 years old, has been left out of the lineup for most of the season for the Bills (7-2). He has only played in three games and has a total of 20 snaps on defense and special teams.
In March, Buffalo signed the two-time Super Bowl champion to a one-year contract worth $2.8 million, as reported by Spotrac.
Selected in the third round by Tampa Bay in 2019, Edwards has accumulated 236 tackles, eight interceptions, and four defensive touchdowns in 78 games (28 starts) with the Buccaneers (2019-22), Kansas City Chiefs (2023), and Bills. He has won Super Bowl LV with Tampa Bay and Super Bowl LVIII with Kansas City.
